Jerome and I made a commitment to be as environmentally responsible as possible within our financial abilities. We've been working to teach Micah about the importance of caring for God's Earth as well. Wednesday Micah and I spent the morning sorting our recyclables (a wonderful activity that teaches all sorts of excellent skills) We have opted not to have our recyclables picked up because we live less than a minute away from a recycling center. Normally Jerome takes in the recycling, but I thought I'd expand Micah's recycling lesson. I loaded the boys into the car and off we went to Litter Landing. I believe Micah saw and learned some valuable things, but the following are lessons Mommy learned:
1. Do NOT leave your keys sitting on the seat next to your three year old.
2. When going to Litter Landing it may be a good idea to not let your 3 year old out of his/her carseat.
3. Letting one's 3 year old out of his/her carseat may result in your keys being recycled with the aluminum cans.
4. If you do not pay attention to #2, your three year old may lock your 6 month old inside your car before you realize he has done #3.
5. Jeanne Moyer is a quite hero who is willing to leave work, go get your spair key, and save your baby.
6. I am not and will never be SUPER MOM.
7. #6 is a lesson I will never stop learning. :)
If I have learned nothing else in Micah's short 3 years of life, it is that he listens to everything we say and has very good intentions of being helpful and literal in everything he does. As I was searching for my keys he said.."Mommy, I put them in the cans for the machines to make them into something new." It's a shame the crew at little landing took away the cans to the crushers after we put our cans into the bin. Praise God Anyway!
